Biochar is a type of charcoal made by heating organic bamboo without oxygen, which gives it a porous structure that absorbs and inhibits the growth of bacteria, unwanted odours, and harmful substances. This revolutionary approach means your bedding stays fresh and clean without the need for harsh, artificial additives. 

We also steer clear of other harmful substances, such as azo dyes, optical brighteners, and chemical softening agents, ensuring our products are as pure as possible.

Sustainable Colouring: The Avitera® Difference

For colouring, we use Avitera® low-impact, non-toxic reactive dyes. Avitera® is among the most sustainable and environmentally-friendly dyes available, second only to natural dyes. While large-scale natural dyeing remains a challenge, we are actively exploring future limited-edition collections using bio-based, seaweed-based, and microbial dyes.

A unique aspect of our approach is that we produce fabrics in small dye lots. This may result in slight colour variations between batches, a deliberate choice that prioritises sustainability over exact colour uniformity. By avoiding the harsh chemicals required for perfect colour matching, we stay true to our mission of providing truly chemical-free sheets.

Certifications such as OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 verify that products are tested for and free from harmful substances throughout the entire production process. We are proud to hold the highest level Class I (safe for babies) OEKO-TEX certification, while most other bedding brands offer only Class II (safe for skin contact), which has a higher allowable threshold for chemical residue.
