Why Bamboo?

About Bamboo

Bamboo, a renewable resource, is the fastest growing plant in the world - growing as fast as 47.6 inches in a 24-hour period.

Bamboo can be selectively harvested every year after 7 years, compared to 30 to 50 years for trees, and bamboo regenerates without replanting. With a 10-30% annual increase in biomass versus 2-5% for trees, bamboo can yield 20 times more timber than trees on the same area.

Bamboos include over 1000 species of woody, perennial grasses in more than 100 genera all over the planet that are native to every continent except Europe and the poles. China has an abundant resource of bamboo - over 400 species. For 3000 years, the Chinese have been making bamboo products.

Bamboo tolerates extremes of drought and drowning, produces 40% more oxygen than a hardwood forest on the same amount of land and is considered a critical element in the balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Because of its wide spread root system and large canopy, bamboo greatly reduces rain run off and prevents massive soil erosion.

Bamboo is also "naturally organic". Bamboo grows like a weed (people who plant bamboo in their yard can attest to this fact after their yard becomes a bamboo forest!) and it doesn't need any pesticides, fertilizers or irrigation to enhance its prolific growth. This is a huge step up from cotton, which requires the intensive use of pesticides & irrigation.

Bamboo helps mitigate water pollution due to its high nitrogen consumption, making it a solution for excess nutrient uptake of waste water from manufacturing, livestock farming and sewage treatment.

Bamboo is one of the strongest building materials on earth. There are over 1,000 different kinds of bamboo and some are stronger than steel. In certain parts of the world where bamboo grows on every corner, it’s used as a substitute for steel when building homes, boats and even bridges. So it’s strange then, that fabric made from bamboo can be as soft as cashmere. And unlike cashmere, no goats are harmed in the process.

About Bamboo Fabric

It's extraordinarily soft and comfortable - Bamboo textiles are very smooth and have a natural sheen to the surface and they really do feel like silk textiles or cashmere. Bamboo yarn by nature is much finer than cotton yarn, we use the finest bamboo yarn which gives our product a very super light feeling and an incredibly ultra soft feel. Our bamboo fabric is 300 thread count construction. (equals to about an 1000 thread count fine cotton sheet as bamboo yarn is much finer than cotton yarn)

It is super breathable - Bamboo fabric can adjust to your body temperature. It has millions of micro gaps in the fiber making it one the fasting wicking fabrics available, those millions of micro gaps make our bamboo sheets much more breathable than any fine cotton sheet. So this means you will stay cooler more comfortable in the summer and in the winter bamboo fabrics will warm you up quicker but at the same time because they allow more air between the fabric and your skin, overheating is prevented.

It is Hypoallergenic & Naturally Antibacterial - Bamboo fibers are naturally anti-microbial. It is one of the best fibers known to the bedding world for people who suffer from allergies to bed or dust mites. When cotton sheets heat up they retain much more moisture than bamboo sheets so bacteria is quick to form, tests have shown bed mites can form on our sheets in just hours after lying on them, bamboo will KILL bed mites like nothing else can   (actually the sun is the best thing) this leaves your sheets feeling fresh and odor free for much longer than any cotton sheet can. So you will only need to wash your bamboo sheets half as much as you do your cotton sheets.

It is also the vegan/animal friendly choice for luxury - unlike silk or cashmere. This means you can sleep peacefully knowing no animals were harmed for you to sleep on your comfy bamboo sheets or wear your stylish bamboo clothing.
